Simon joined his father and brother in the mid 80s in the family hotel business, English lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues. After a period as Marketing Director, he became Managing Director in the late 90s and then MD and Chairman in the mid-00s. He handed over the day to day running of the business to his son Ben in 2022 who became MD. Simon now holds the role of Executive Chairman. Assisted by a great executive team he built the group organically to six 4-star luxury properties in the Lake District National Park and North West England.

As well as his “full-time” job, he is Chairman of the Luis Palau Association European Board and a member of the US Board. He has also served as a director of a number of other companies and organisations over the years including Cumbria Tourism, Best Western hotels,The Cumberland Building Society and Open Arms International. He is also a trustee director of his local church Lakes Christian Centre and the Mission Café, he is also very pleased to be asked to be Patron of the Adullam trust who work with those recovering from addiction in the Lancaster area.

Married to Diana for over 40 years! they have three grown up sons, Robert, Ben and Elliot.Rob and Ben live and work in the Lake District and Elliot works full time in Kenya.
