Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:30,31)

Recently I was listening to a conversation between two people about being on a 'journey'. It seems to be a bit of a buzz word in Christian circles; we are all on a journey! What do we discuss more positively, the beginning or the end? The welcome or the farewells? The preparation or the arrival? We tend to live our lives welcoming fresh starts and celebrating endings, but for me the critical thing is what goes on in between.

In Isaiah 40 we have an amazing prophecy about a nation which was released from captivity and looking forward to entering Jerusalem. In this great passage we read about God's provision and his care for them. I'm sure their escape was an amazing, exciting event, but then, as we read through the chapter, we hear about complaints, tiredness and weariness. It was a long journey before they saw the hills of Jerusalem and arrived at their destination. In that context Isaiah gives us that well-known prophecy, where he tells us to hope in the Lord and so to run and not grow weary, to walk and not faint.

For me it's the in between that's important: yes, trusting God when we begin the journey, but also not giving up through the journey; building resilience; running, yet not growing weary; walking and not fainting as we head towards our journey's end.

We are on the journey as Gospel Entrepreneurs. We have started the journey. We are heading for a destination. We are going for growth and impact. As entrepreneurs, we start a journey and everybody claps, but then we have the hard graft of walking on the journey to our destination to see success and fruitfulness.

Be encouraged wherever you are on the journey. If you have launched towards your goal, everybody praises you but then all goes quiet. Maybe you can see the end in sight; you recognise you are chosen by God for the task in hand. Wherever you are on the journey, your hope in God - your focus on him - will enable you to walk, not to be weary; to run and not to faint.

Keep going, keep trying, trusting and praying. Be resilient, because God has chosen you and is with you.

Thanks so much for your prayers and support. We couldn't do this without you.
